Our guides

At Andean Adventures Peru we understand the importance of the role played by our guides and tour leaders, and that is why we work with professionals who possess the skills required to ensure that your experience is an enjoyable and rewarding one.
 

All our guides and tour leaders are extremely knowledgeable regarding the history, archaeology, culture and natural attractions of Peru. Highly-trained, they possess the vital qualities of leadership, language and organizational skills, as well as personal attributes such as excellent interpersonal skills and a good sense of humor. Every member of our guiding staff is trained in first aid.
 

We take the comments of our travelers seriously, and use the questionnaires they fill out in order to constantly improve the services we offer.

Santiago Carrasco - Guide at Andean Adventures Peru
SANTIAGO CARRASCO BELLOTA

Guide, Languages: English, Spanish

Santiago is a professional adventure guide and he has worked with Andean Adventures Peru since 1994. He holds a degree in tourism from Cusco’s San Antonio Abad University and possesses excellent knowledge of Peruvian history and culture. He leads groups of travelers on our eco-tours, agricultural tours, experiential programs and adventure tourism in the Vilcanota, Urubamba and Vilcabamba mountain ranges. Santiago gained additional experience in technical rope rescue and first aid through the Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue Team programs offered within the Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary. In his free time, he enjoys exploring new trekking routes with colleagues, hiking with his family and playing football. 


 

Ernesto Callo - Guide at Andean Adventures Peru
ERNESTO CALLO

Guide, Languages: English, Spanish

Ernesto is an excellent guide with a degree in tourism from Cusco’s San Antonio Abad University. He has been working as a guide since 1995 and trekking and guiding are his true passions. Those travelers who choose to hike the Inca Trail, Salkantay and Lares routes with Andean Adventures may find themselves being guided by this outstanding professional. Ernesto enjoys the contact with nature that comes with his job, and takes pleasure in teaching visitors to Peru about the magnificent history of our ancestors and the Andean belief systems that have survived to this day.

OSWALDO PALOMINO

Guide, Languages: English, Spanish
 

Oswaldo holds a degree in Tourism from Cusco’s Andina University. He has more than 20 years of experience as a tour guide, during which time he has developed in-depth knowledge of the tour and trekking routes he leads. His winning personality and good sense of humor add a further dimension to the programs he leads. Oswaldo began his career as a guide in the historic city of Cusco, before broadening his skills and knowledge to include adventure trips focusing on Peru’s natural and cultural heritage. Those of you who decide to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu or participate in other treks in the Andes may find yourselves being guided by Oswaldo, who always strives to exceed the expectations of our travelers.

HUGO PEPPER

Tour Leader, Languages: German, Spanish
 

Hugo is an exceptionally experienced and reliable guide. He was born in the city of Arequipa and has worked with Andean Adventures Peru as a guide at the Manu Paradise Lodge since 1998 and as a tour leader since 2010. He studied sociology and political science at Saint Norbert College (Wisconsin, USA) and holds a degree in economics. Hugo has made a lifestyle of his work in the tourism industry since 1980, before which he worked in Europe as a professional tennis player. Hugo has been leading groups in the rainforest, particularly Manu National Park, since 1981. He spends his free time reading or playing tennis.

JUAN PEREZ

Guide & Tour Leader, Languages: German, Spanish
 

Juan was born in La Paz, Bolivia, and is a charming and knowledgeable tour leader who has worked with Andean Adventures Peru since 2010. He specializes in leading tours in Bolivia, where he has guided groups throughout the country since 2007. Juan also holds a degree in psychology and when he is not guiding he devotes his time to social projects that assist young people. When leading tours, he encourages our travelers to immerse themselves in the culture of the places they visit, experiencing local customs and attempting to understand the minds of local people, as well as enjoying the scenery offered by the programs we run. Juan’s priority is to offer a complete experience to every individual who chooses to travel with Andean Adventures Peru. 
 

 

Mauro Jara - Guide and Tour Conductor at Andean Adventures Peru


MAURO JARA

Guide & Tour Leader, Languages: French, Japanese, Italian, German, English, Quechua and Spanish
 

Born in 1957, Mauro is an outstanding tour leader and guide and an asset to Andean Adventures Peru. His native language is Quechua, and he learned Spanish as a child. A gifted linguist, he speaks German, French, English, Italian and Japanese. Mauro has been guiding travelers since 1985. Having lived in the Peruvian Amazon region, he is extremely knowledgeable about traditional medicinal plants. He also knows many poems and songs in Quechua, which he is more than happy to share with travelers at the end of each tour. It really is a pleasure to travel with Mauro. 


Rubén Malpartida - Guide at Andean Adventures Peru


RUBÉN MALPARTIDA

Guide, Languages: English, and Spanish
 

He was born in Cusco, and has been working with Andean Adventures Peru since 2011. He is a knowledgeable travel guide, who mainly does adventure trips. If travelers do treks in Cusco, he is one of the guides. Ruben has studied Tourism at Tupac Amaru Institute in Cusco. After working around 7 years in the operation department of a travel agency, he decided to be a guide. Currently he has a wide experience in adventure travel and traditional tours. Rubén likes travelers to be satisfied with his service and be happy to visit Cusco. In his free time he likes to explore new places, and play football.
