Andean Adventures Peru is based in Cusco, at the heart of any trip to Peru. We have been offering and operating cultural, ecological and adventure travel in the Andean region and the Amazon basin since 1985.

We are official operators of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu under the Peruvian government guidelines designed to sustainably manage the Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary and protect indigenous porters’ rights.

In Peru’s Amazon basin, our Tambopata eco-lodge is situated in the lowland tropical forests of Tambopata National Reserve, where we provide hotel-standard rainforest lodge accommodation and guided excursions into protected natural areas of unsurpassed biological diversity.

– Our main office is in Cusco, right where you want us to be during your time in Peru.

– We have been operating all our own itineraries since 1985, making us one of the most established and experienced travel agencies in Peru.

– We are part of the community of Cusco; all our staff and partner companies are Peruvian, and we believe that a great travel experience involves interacting with local people.

– The highest quality service: we take care of every detail, employing highly experienced and qualified guides to accompany you during your time in Peru.

– We are fully committed to the principles of responsible and sustainable
tourism, working to minimize the environmental and social impact of
tourism in Peru.

Our staff

All of our tours benefit from the support of our office staff, all of whom are highly experienced professionals and university graduates trained in tourism.
Our tailored, personalized itineraries for individuals and small groups are fully-backed by our office staff, meaning that we will take care of your comfort and safety, while you enjoy the sights.

Trip leaders

Our leaders are not simply tour leaders but also experienced guides who know the areas they live and guide in, with all their history and traditions. They are also qualified to lead off-the-beaten-track back country excursions and expeditions anywhere in the Andes, from hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, exploring the Amazon rainforest or leading cultural, archaeological and anthropological tours.

Local guides

In every city and travel destination on your itinerary local guides will be on hand to show you the sights and give you the benefit of their local knowledge. All our local guides are experienced professionals with specialized knowledge. They are carefully selected for their travel experience and general knowledge and are graduates of Peruvian universities who have received intense training before leading a tour.

Every year they receive periodic training designed to maintain and improve their expertise. We provide guides who speak English, German, French, Italian or Japanese as a second or third language.

All the services and itineraries that we offer are carefully created, taking into account all the wishes and requirements of our clients. We run our activities with the highest standards for the comfort and security of the traveler; we also provide lodging services and full board (on request).

At the same time, our rates are extremely competitive. We aim to provide value for money, while at the same time offering travelers the very best that Peru has to offer in terms of local knowledge, hospitality, service and infrastructure.

National and International Awards

Over the years, the commitment of Andean Adventures Peru to quality travel has been the key to the satisfaction expressed by those who travel with us and by the travel industry professionals with whom we have established strategic alliances. In addition, Andean Adventures Peru has received several awards from national and international travel organizations.

Andean Adventures Peru has been honored on several occasions by the Peruvian Ministry of Tourism with certificates, diplomas and trophies acknowledging its commitment to excellence. Among its awards, it has been named as the “Best Regional Adventure Travel Company in Cusco”, while the company’s manager, Raul Medina, has been recognized for his contributions to adventure travel and ecotourism. Andean Adventures Peru tour guides have been named Tour Guide of the Year, and beyond Peru the company has been nominated for the World Quality Commitment (WQC) award, and been awarded the International Trophy by Spain’s Tourism, Hotel and Catering Industry.

The Rights of Porters

The porters employed by our company are Quechua-speaking indigenous Peruvians from local villages. Andean Adventures Peru adheres strictly to the Porters’ Law introduced by the Peruvian government to protect the rights of indigenous porters. Andean Adventures Peru is committed to the well-being of its porters during treks, ensuring that they are properly paid, well fed and comfortable at our campsites.

The Porters’ Law establishes the minimum daily wage payable by trekking companies. It also sets a limit on the maximum weight that a porter can carry on the Inca Trail. This limit includes a personal allowance for items such as blankets and clothing. Each porter is weighed at the start of the trail and then again at Wayllabamba at the start of the second day. Unfortunately, not all companies respect these basic porters’ rights, and find ways to circumvent the regulations. Andean Adventures Peru condemns such attitudes and practices.

Andean Adventures donates a percentage of its income to remote rural communities for the development of basic educational infrastructure and each year provides Christmas presents for the children of these neglected regions of Peru. Christmas 2016

Our prices

We are able to guarantee our prices because we operate all our own services, both in the rainforest and Andean regions of Peru. Because we have no need to subcontract other operators, we are able to pass on these savings to you. At the same time, the prices of the packages we offer reflect our investment in the very highest standards of service available. We employ the finest professionals and ensure the best employment conditions for our field crews (cooks and porters).

All prices are subject to change without prior notice; we will reconfirm the price at time of booking. Prices do not cover delays and expenses caused by flight delays/cancelations. Single supplements are available on all our tours. Most hotels offer single rooms subject to availability. At our campsites single tents are available, as are single rooms in our rainforest lodge, at an additional cost.
