Family life and a visit to Cusco's Maras and Moray & Ollantaytambo

Today we visit Maras to experience family life. Maras is a typical village  on the plains above the Sacred Valley of the Inca’s. Located close to the Inca archaeological site of Moray, the village of Maras is surrounded by a patchwork of fertile farmland, where a range of Andean crops are cultivated. In Maras, you can enjoy a home-stay with a local family, spending the night in their adobe home, with its charming interior courtyard. Or if you don’t have time to spend the night in Maras, be sure to stop by for a good homemade lunch made with local, seasonal, ingredients, on your way to or from the archaeological site at Moray. In the dry season, you can even share a traditional “huatia” with the family; a meal cooked in the earth using heated stones.

Full-day visit to Machu Picchu

Today we will travel from Cusco to Aguas Calientes by train from where we will make the climb to the famous city of Machu Picchu where we will have a guided tour and free time to wonder around on your own.

Puno & living culture in the Titicaca National Reserve

In the spectacular setting of the world’s highest navigable lake, live the experience of sharing for a day and a night in the lives of the Uros people. The Uros people first constructed their artificial islands from local reed beds long before the Incas arrived at the shores of Lake Titicaca, in order to isolate themselves from other aggressive ethnic groups on the lakeshore.

Today, the Aymara – Uros descendants of those ancient pioneers continue to renovate their reed islands year after year. They support themselves from fishing, trade with the mainland, and from the additional income received from tourists. The main attraction it to experience how the local’s live on these floating platforms anchored in Puno Bay, or to enjoy bird watching in Titicaca National Reserve.

It is now possible to experience this community’s unique way of life by sharing in their daily activities and by spending the night in the reed houses they have built next to their own.
