When to go

This one-day tour of Machu Picchu in the company of an experienced guide enables visitors to learn more about the history and architecture of this enigmatic site located at 2490 meters, amid lush cloud forest filled with tropical fauna and flora. Machu Picchu is composed of temples, palaces, residential buildings and a large, central main square, as well as extensive agricultural terracing. It is believed to have been the residence of the great Inca Pachacutec, and was built by him in the first half of the 15th century. Machu Picchu was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983, and in 2007 it was selected as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at around 6:00 am for the drive to Poroy or Ollantaytambo train station, from where you will board the train to Aguas Calientes station, which is located below the famous ruins of Machu Picchu. From the station, the ruins are accessed via a short bus ride of less than 25 minutes. Upon arrival at the Inca city, you will be escorted around the site by our experienced guide for approximately 2 hours, after which you will have free time to explore the ruins independently before returning to the village of Aguas Calientes in time for lunch, after which it will be time to board the train for the return trip to Cusco.
