During this 3 day / 2 night tour you will visit the magical villages, of Uros, Amanti and Taquile, located in Lake Titicaca. If 3 days and 2 nights isn’t enough for you there also is the 6 day / 5 night Cusco and lake Titicaca programme.

Cusco to Puno

The day will begin with a transfer to the bus station where you will get on a shared tourist bus to Puno (396km, 8h) located at 3650m. Along the route you will visit the charming village of Andahuaylillas (3023m) with its church, which has been called ‘the Sistine Chapel of the Americas’ and also the Inca temple of Raqchi (3329m). We’ll arrive in Puno in the afternoon where you will be transferred to your hotel.

Titicaca Lake - Uros & Amantani Island

Our trip begins with a transfer to the port of Puno for the 3.5 hour boat trip to the Amantani island. On our way to the island we will visit the artificial floating islands of the Uros. The Uro people, who inhabit the artificial Totora reed islands on Lake Titicaca, are the descendants of the oldest race on earth. However, very little is actually known about them. Their most characteristic tradition is their use of the aquatic Totora reed, which they use to build their houses, boats and the very islands on which they live, which are made from thick layers of reed which are replaced periodically. Afterwards we will go to Amantani island, which is similar to Taquile but much larger, the islands have simple restaurants, there is a plentiful supply of lake trout, and visitors who stay for a night will find themselves sharing a few moments in the peaceful lives of these marvelous people. We will have an overnight stay in a local home.

Taquile Island

On the third day we will make a trip to the Taquile Island, which can be easily considered the most fascinating island in the lake. The backdrop of the snow-capped Cordillera Real on the far side completes a splendid picture. The local inhabitants, known as Taquileños, still wear traditional clothing and are known for their high-quality handicrafts. After our 3 hour visit to the Taquile Island we will make our way back to Puno (2.5h).
